Restoring your HTC backup using your Google Account

Here’s how to restore a saved backup from your Google Drive storage to your new HTC phone.

When you turn on your phone for the first time or after you’ve done a factory reset, follow the onscreen instructions to start setting up the phone.

  • When prompted, sign in to your Google Account.
  • Choose from which old phone you want to restore apps and data.
  • Choose to restore all the apps, or pick only the ones you want to install on your new phone.
  • Follow the onscreen instructions to finish setting up the phone and restore the apps.

Also note that restoring the wallpaper may depend on screen resolution compatibility between your old and new phone.

If you backed up your old phone using HTC Backup, you can restore your saved backup to your new HTC phone.

Note that restoring a backup will overwrite the current data and settings on the HTC phone. Depending on the amount of content, restoring your backup to your phone through your data connection may incur additional data costs and take a long time. Using a Wi‍-Fi connection is recommended.

  • To restore paid apps, you need to download and install them via the Google Play Store app.
  • After you’ve finished setting up your new HTC phone, slide the Notifications panel open, and then tap the Transfer or restore your content notification.
  • You can also go to Settings, and then tap System or Backup & reset.
  • Tap Restore from HTC Backup. .
  • If your phone is preloaded with Android 6 or later version, you’ll be prompted to download the HTC Restore app. Install and open this app, and then tap Restore from HTC Backup.
  • If the HTC Account screen appears, sign in using the same account that you used to back up your old phone.
  • Your backup history will then be displayed.

Select a backup, and then tap Next.

If prompted, sign in to your cloud storage account.

Follow the onscreen instructions to restore your backup and to continue setting up your phone.

Slide open the Notifications panel to check if there’s any notification to finish setting up your phone.

Free apps from Google Play Store will be restored in the background, and you can track the progress via a notification in the status bar. To restore paid apps, you need to download and install them from Google Play Store.

To restore your HTC back up from your computer to your mobile all you need is to follow the steps below:

  • Connect your phone to your computer.
  • In HTC Sync Manager, click Home > Transfer & Backup.
  • Under Backup and Restore, click Restore.
  • Select a backup file to restore from.
  • Choose whether to replace existing content on your phone with the content from the backup file.
  • Click Restore Now.
  • If the backup file has a password, enter the password, and then click OK.
  • After the backup has been restored, choose whether to keep the backup file or remove it from your computer.

In phone models that have Android 5.0 or earlier, you can slide open the Notifications panel and then tap Home screen restored to apply your personalized Home screen layout to your phone.

Also note that  HTC Sync Manager will no longer be supported in HTC Desire 12, HTC Desire 12‍+, HTC U12‍+, and later phone models.
